Create items

Updated over 12 months ago

This guide walks you through the steps to quickly create items on D-Store Console during onboarding.

Before you begin

Before performing any actions on an item, ensure you understand that:

  • Understand the guidelines for the product structure. D-Store allows you to create products with up to five levels. However, if you plan to sell on food delivery platforms, such as GrabFood and Foodpanda, keep the products no more than three levels. Otherwise, the platforms will truncate the extra levels. The product levels are as follows:

    • Items

      • Choice groups

        • Choices (the third level)

          • Choice groups

            • Choices (the fifth level)

Create items

You can use either of the following methods to create items:

  • Upload and extract menu items: Bulk import items by uploading a menu. D-Store extracts and creates the items on the menu.

  • Create items manually: Customize the item availability and price for different stores and sales channels.

Upload and extract menu items

To create an item with a menu, take the following steps:

  1. Click Extract From Menu Images to navigate to Items during your onboarding.

  2. Click Upload to upload your menu image and wait for the item extraction from your image.

  3. Click Add to Menu to add the extracted items to the menu.

Create items manually

To create items manually, take the following steps:

  1. In the Create your products step, click Create Manually to navigate to Items.

  2. Select the item type.

    • If you want to create a standalone item with a unique SKU and customizable modifiers, select Standard Item. This type of item is ideal for creating combos.

    • If you want to group similar items with different attributes and unique SKUs, select Item Variants. This type of item is ideal for products with different options such as size, color, or flavor.

  3. Enter the product name, ID, variants (if you create an item with variants), and optional details. For more information on the entry fields, refer to Learn about item configuration fields.

  4. Click Save to finalize all the item settings, and your item is created successfully.
