D-Store Console has two default categories, All and Uncategorized, to group items. However, to display the items in stores, you must include them in a custom category. This guide walks you through the steps to create and update categories.
Before you begin
Before taking any action on a category, familiarize yourself with the following:
The same item can be included in multiple categories.
(Optional) If your account is associated with more than one organization, specify the target organization in the search area by selecting a proper option in the Organization field and clicking Filter.
Create categories
To create a category, take the following steps:
On D-Store Console, go to Products > Items to view the categories and items.
At the top of the category list, click Add Category.
Provide the category name and optional details. For more information on the entry fields, refer to Learn about category configuration fields.
Click Save.
Note:
To display categories and their included items in your stores, you must set up a menu.
To create multiple categories at once, refer to Bulk import products and categories.
Edit categories
You can edit an existing category for the following purposes:
Updating basic information, such as name and description
Updating items to be included in a category
To edit a category, take the following steps:
On D-Store Console, go to Products > Items to view the categories and items.
Hover over the target category in the list and click the Edit icon.
Provide the updated category details. For more information on the entry fields, refer to Learn about category configuration fields.
Click Save.
Note: Updating a category that is included in an active menu directly updates the category details in stores.
Delete categories
Before deleting a category, ensure to remove all items from it. To remove items from a category, refer to Edit categories.
To delete a category, take the following steps:
On D-Store Console, go to Products > Items to view the categories and items.
Hover over the target category in the list and click the edit icon.
Click Delete, and then in the confirmation popup, click Delete again.
Note: Deleting a category that is included in an active menu directly removes the category from the stores.
Sort items under a category
For a custom category, you can sort the included items to affect the items' display order in stores. To adjust the order, take the following steps:
On D-Store Console, go to Products > Items to view the categories and items.
On the category list, click the target category.
On the item list, click and hold the drag handle of an item. Then, move it to the desired place and release it. Besides, you can use the arrows that appear when you hover over the drag handle. The upward arrow moves the item to the top of the list, and the downward arrow moves the item to the bottom.
Note: The preceding steps create a default item order within a category. Meanwhile, for a specific menu, you can fine-tune the item order from the Edit Menu page. The menu order on D-Store and Foodpanda is displayed as you edit, but not on GrabFood.
